Development of a National Aviation Policy Statement

The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, announced on 10 April 2008 the Australian Government's commitment to the development of a National Aviation Policy Statement.

The National Aviation Policy Statement will provide greater planning and investment certainty for the industry and provide clear commitments for users of aviation services and communities affected by aviation activity.

Issues Paper

An Issues Paper [PDFPDF: 512 KB] [RTFRTF: 485 KB] has been prepared as a basis for consultation and engagement in this process.

Submissions on the Issues Paper are invited from interested parties. For more information on making a submission or to view publicly available submissions, please visit the Submissions page.

To enable timely consideration of public comment in preparing the Green Paper, Submissions or comments should be provided to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government by no later than Friday 27 June 2008.

National Aviation Policy Green Paper

The Green Paper will outline possible policy directions, settings and reforms for the Australian aviation industry and will be released for public comment in the latter half of 2008.

The process of developing a new aviation policy will be finalised in mid 2009 with the release of a National Aviation Policy Statement (White Paper)
