The Department of Transport and Regional Services today released a draft final report of the independent investigation into vibration and stability of heavy trucks.

The report has been prepared by a consultant, Roaduser International, following complaints from operators about the safety of some vehicles. The work analyses characteristics of some heavy vehicles to determine whether there is a systemic safety deficiency.

The report is still a draft and the Department is releasing the report so that interested parties have an opportunity to comment before the report is finalised and submitted to Government.

A copy of the draft report will be distributed to individuals and companies who have indicated their interest during the course of the investigation. It will also be made available on the internet at www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safety/road/vehicle/int_truck/index.aspx.

Interested parties can provide written comment on the draft to Roaduser International, 525 Spencer Street, Melbourne, VIC, 3003 or faxed to (03) 9329 1669. Comments must be received by Tuesday, 30 November 1999.
