A series of workshops providing local councils with a rare opportunity to explore examples of 'leading practice' will be held throughout regional Australia from today.
The 'Local Government Leading The Way' workshop series, to be held during May and June, is being organised by Brian Elton and Associates and presented by the National Office of Local Government.
The workshops will demonstrate leading practice and innovation by local government in rural and regional Australia; examine and promote local government initiatives and practices, especially in the areas of community leadership and leadership within local government; and develop plans to progress workshop outcomes.
Participants at the workshops will share examples of leading practice, contribute to, and have access to, a nationwide database of leading practice in local government and agree on an action plan to address key strategic issues over the next three to five years.
