Today saw the release of a set of CDs containing over 320 titles published by the Bureau of Transport Economics (BTE) over the past 30 years.
The Bureau provides research, analysis and data services for the information of Government and the community. It operates within the Commonwealth Department of Transport and Regional Services.
The BTE Virtual Library contains six disks - an index CD, general topic CD and separate CDs covering the aviation, rail, road and shipping sectors. The index disk contains the entire list of documents on the other CDs, along with an abstract of each title. The modal and general topic CDs contains the full text of each publication.
Included in the CD set is all published BTE work including research reports, working papers, information papers and conference papers.
quot;This CD Library is a powerful research tool designed for policy analysts and researchers. With an easy to use search function BTE publications can be located easily and read straight off the computer screen", BTE Executive Director, Tony Slatyer, said.
Mr Slatyer added "a document can be located on any CD by searching using the title, mode, date of publication, document series, or through a keyword search".
Each CD also contains a friendly help file, designed to assist the user in searching for information, plus an animated tutorial that illustrates the use of the library.
