Leading Practice Seminars

The Leading Practice Seminars started in 2000 and are designed to promote the sharing of leading practice in local government across Australia.

Since that time, entrants in the National Awards for Local Government ("the Awards") have shared their experiences with many other local government bodies around the country.

The Awards recognise, celebrate and promote the innovative and leading practices of local government. The Seminars provide opportunities to bring selected presenters of these innovations to speak with councils.

The Seminar series is run as a partnership between the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Australian Government sponsors of the Awards, and the body hosting the Seminar. The Seminars provide an opportunity for councils to come together to hear from their colleagues and to discuss how specific projects might apply to their councils.

The Department financially supports host bodies who, in turn, are responsible for providing the venue, providing audio visual equipment, promoting the event, the seminar agenda, registration, and catering.

If your Council, Regional Organisations of Councils or Local Government Association is interested in finding out more about the Seminars please contact Lynette Pullin, telephone free call 1800 065 113, or by e-mail at lynette.pullin@infrastructure.gov.au
