Where are your kids? Child safety in your driveway

Where are your kids? Child safety in your driveway

Small children can be impossible to see from inside a car, especially if they are immediately behind it. One child, generally a toddler, is run over in the driveway of their home every week in Australia. The vehicle is usually being driven by a parent, family member or friend. Many of the children who are not killed sustain severe and permanent injuries. The brochure has been developed under the direction of the Motor Accidents Authority of NSW with the assistance of the ATSB. It is being distributed throughout Australia from April 2003 via General Practitioners and Child Care centres.

VEHICLE SAFETY

Used car safety ratings 2008

Used car safety ratings 2008

Used Car Safety ratings for passenger vehicles built 1982-2006.

In a crash, how much is your car likely to protect you and harm other road users?

You've got your sights set on that car. It's the right price, looks good, and it's the prefect size for what you need. But there are two important factors you may not have thought about. It is important that your vehicle offers you good protection from injury in a crash - and it is also important that your vehicle offers good protection to other road users.

Real world crash data analysed by Monash University's Accident Research Centre shows that some used vehicle models offer much better protection from death or serious injury in a crash than others.
